Client wants us to cut an overgrown hedge down to 6 foot , but doesn't want it cut back at all.

It's at least 10 foot wide and there's no access to the other side :yikes:

Any ideas about what we could hire to get the job done ?

Pole hedgetrimmer? (Might need the chainsaw attachment/pole chainsaw if stems are too thick, but the those are normally inline with the pole and can"t be used at 90deg like trimmer heads).

Can you not cut this side back to make it narrower? Like Scrungee suggested a long reach hedge trimmer would work for most of it, holding it and pushing it through the hedge will be difficult, but at 10ft I don't think many would reach all the way . probably have to climb / ladder in the middle of the hedge and do it that way.

Only other thing i can think of is a tractor flail with the arm or a cherry picker :noidea:

I agree with you Shiney. I think you can hire these platform ladders and the cutter too.
Down here plenty of places to hire from so you should find something Zigs

I cut back a conifer hedge way taller than 20' and greater than 10' wide. Granted I could access both sides but a saw, loppers and an ordinary extendable hedge trimmer was used.

Shiney made me smile when referring to elf n Safery though because a greenhouse was closely adjacent, the ground uneven and some of the wood inside was thick and difficult....a bit dicey to say the least:gaah:

Job done some 5 years ago and it has regrown rapidly again in that time; I wont do it again though because I advised it should be pruned every year :noidea:

Err, why would anyone want a hedge ten foot thick??
Or am I being thick, sounds like stupid idea that will have to be repeated in about a year.

That's so last century! I'd suggest to get some drones, (approximately 84 would be enough), attach the mower on them and sit back with the remote controls and a cuppa. If you leave a camera attached the secrets of the Other Side of the hedge will also be reviled.

And don't forget the appropriate outfit.
