    Hi Everyone,

I've been browsing the threads for a while so I thought now would be a good time to say hello.

I've been gardening for a few years but consider myself a beginner because I've only once tried to grow plants from seed which was the year before last. I didn't attempt it last year due to illness but when I did grow from seed, I really did catch the bug. I've got a lovely wide south facing window ledge downstairs which is about to become jam packed with seedlings!

My garden is on the small side and it's only now in March that it is getting a bit more sun. It's ok in the summer though with plenty of sun on the south and west facing sides. There is still a lot of shade though. Hope that makes sense. :)

I tend to grow the things I like and luckily the things I like are really good for bees. Basically my garden can only be described as a bee haven! The seeds I've picked to grow this year have been chosen with bees in mind so hopefully the garden will be busy this year.

Anyway that's enough about me for now....I'm very pleased to meet you all!

Thanks for the really nice welcome simbad, Clueless1, lolimac and Zigs.:)

Hi simbad - some of the seeds I bought to try include agastache golden jubilee (not sure if it will flower til next year), alyssum red devil (has a nice cascading effect) and echium plantagineum "dwarf blue bedder" (lovely blue colour). I hope the bees like them but if they don't I sure will!

Love your choices Fern4, I grew Agastache Golden Jubilee from seed in 2011 didn't do much the first year but last year it was lovely, the new foliage is gorgeous tinted with purple and later its almost flourescent, yes the bees loved it :), I was sent some Vipers Bugloss seeds by a member on here too, which reminds me I must get them sown.
Don't know if I'm supposed to put pictures on your thread ooops, but here's a picture of my 'Golden Jubilee'

Thanks Granny Annie - there's certainly lots to read and loads of really good advice. I've learnt plenty already!

Thanks for the photo simbad. Seeing the pic has made me even more keen to grow it. The foliage is lovely. I must admit to having a bit of a "thing" for blue flowers. I also
bought some ajuga reptans seeds - more blue flowers! I thought I'd try growing it as I read it likes shady spots so I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Welcome to GC Fern4, yes there is plenty to browse through.

I was given a packet of Helichrysum Bracteatum seed last year, although not a plant I would grow by choice but I did and they were smothered in Bees and Butterfles all summer.:blue thumb:
