    Hello,

I am a new member having just acquired my first ever piece of outside outside space after having bought a small 1920’s Victorian terraced house last year.

The garden, which is east facing is more of a yard and has two large raised beds containing a Walnut tree amongst a mixture of established shrubs and more recent perennials.

I have absolutely no previous garden experience though have thrown myself into growing a mixture of different things and am excited to see what I can do to enhance the space further after having spent this year trying to work out what is possible I thought it was best to see if anybody could put their experience to use and assist me, in particular my biggest challenge being how to manage the Walnut tree.

    Thanks

I must confess that the picture used was taken a few weeks ago and they have since been on the menu so to speak.

That's actually quite nice to hear such honesty!
I've got a garden full of lovely plants but i am chicken when it comes to hostas.
One day I'd like to master the art of protecting them.. Perhaps a circle of decoy marigolds lol.

Oh nearly everything I have inherited, the previous owner was clearly interested enough and things in pots are largely donated by family. I have grown a few things in pots myself but nothing from seed yet.

For me, there's nothing better during an early spring morning seeing my seedlings emerging from the compost

I too am very good at growing tiny potatoes without even trying through composting.

Attenborough Nature Reserve is a lovely place, it has recently had new visitor centre built there with a cafe. I've not been for a while, I must make amends.

Yes fabulous Hostas - mine have been shredded by slugs yet again. Will try some vaseline around the rim of the pot next year.
