Hello, I've recently found this friendly forum and I would like to join in discussions about plants, gardens and garden design, and most of all, my favourite topic: ponds. We have a half an acre plot of land that I started turning into a garden nearly six years ago. The result can be seen in my avatar. I became so obsessed with everything in connection to gardening that I even graduated as a garden designer and garden maintainer last year, and in the past few years I tried to learn all I could about plants. I hope my knowledge can be of some use here. Sadly, English is not my mother tongue and haven't used it in a couple of years so please be patient with me and try to figure out what I was trying to say... :) Agatha

Welcome to GC Agatha and there are lots of friendly folk who would be delighted to discuss your various projects with you. We look forward to seeing what you like and what you do. ... besides your beautiful pond ...

It would be useful to know where you are, however, as this could be relevant with advice that may or needs to be given. And for what it's worth, your English is very good!

In the meantime, enjoy the forum.

    Hi Agatha and welcome,

Whereabouts is your garden in Zone 6?

I would love to see pics of your pond and garden; in fact, I'd love to see loads of pics of it.

Hi Agatha and welcome. I wish my garden was as good as your English. :D

Your avatar is lovely - can you show us some more pictures? And do you have a special area of interest?

Thank you very much, everyone, for the warm welcome! :)

Victória: If you follow the river Danube as it winds its way in mountainous regions, you'll find my garden in a small valley. :)

    Penny: Thank you so much!

Kindredspirit: As I can see from your avatar, you are truly a kindred spirit! :D I'm going to read through the pond section and join you there with some piccies, if you don't mind...

PeterS: It's so very kind of you! I'll try to find some nice photos and put them up as a sort of introduction. My special interests are ponds, conifers and roses. I have a small collection of both, but from ponds I only have this two. :)

Marley Farley: if 'overseas' also means the good old continent, then you're definitely right. :) No part of GB can be as cold as this, and this winter hasn't been kind to any of us, gardeners, whether you are in zone 8 or 6...

Wow, you certainly didn't learn English from a book! In fact you could write a book in English, the way you style your sentences.

Looking forward to hearing about and seeing pictures of your pond. I'd like to see your conifer section as well, as I'm going to put in one but I can't find a specialist conifer garden centre here, that has a wide range of varieties to choose from.

Thank you so much! :D I selected some photos, and made some more from my favourite conifers and evergreens, I'll try to find the best section for both now.
