Hello everyone here in Gardner's Corner! I'm sorry to be so late introducing myself - I signed up in June!!
My hubbie and I did quite a lot of planting this summer and autumn, including a few trees (we lost two trees over the previous couple of years).
I'm the more interested gardener of the two of us and our two teens haven't shown very much interest as yet!
We have planted some unusual and somewhat exotic plants - two Paulownia trees, one Albizia tree, a Tetrapanax which is very small atm... also a hardy ginger and two hardy Schleffera.
I have probably said enough for now ... don't want to bore anyone!
Very frosty here and I'm wondering about cutting back a few perennials and about doing more mulching ...
Lovely to be here and look forward to getting to know some of you and to learning and sharing lots!
    Hxx

Welcome along. I'm well north of you in the Glens of Antrim. We had the worst summer on record this year with rain and wind most days and very cold which confused the plants! Did you fair any better down there?

Hi Sandy. Hello to you in Antrim! Thanks for your message.
Spring was very hot and then summer not great for the most part.
We did have some extreme windy weather .... which was not nice at all! I seem to remember that we lit our fire in July for a bit of warmth and cheer!
Right now the temp is about 2 or 3 degrees.... frost has gone. I'm looking at a Salvia and my Ginger and an aster (none of which I have grown before) and wondering should I cut them back or not. The sun has come out a little, thankfully!
Gardening has been so wonderful during this pandemic, hasn't it?

Thank you so much @wiseowl! I'm very glad to be here. I'm not finding it easy to upload photos into this forum.
Any tips welcome. Can't I choose from my gallery or my Google photos?

Hi @Halle and welcome to the forum.

I dont think that you are late in introducing yourself at all. Friends that live up in Co, Mayo have always told me that the pace of life in the ROI is a lot slower and more relaxed than everywhere else. I've not got round to my intro as yet, or at least, I cant remember doing one! :rolleyespink:

I'm in the south of Sweden. As you rightly guessed, my soil is sandy loam. What type of soil do you have there?

It is pretty rich soil, it doesn't get water logged though. I think it is pretty neutral, lots of plants seem to like it!
