New to gardening, just got my own place. Hoping to share successes here more than anything!
Got problem with a crab apple tree, leaves going brown at the top, not sure if it's because it's new or a disease. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum! My crabapple kept getting brown spots on the leaves which then turned orange and finally brown and dropped. This year I tried something new to me. Sulphur spray. I bought concentrate and mixed it in a bottle that could be pressurized. Sprayed twice now about 3 weeks apart and it seems to have stopped the nasty disease.

Caution:don't spill any of the spray on yourself. People give you really odd looks and stay more than the standard 2 meters away! :heehee:

Your problem is apple scab. Caused by the fungal infection, 'Venturia inaequalis'

Sulphur can be used as a treatment. However as wih fumgal infections, the affected leaves will not recover. These affected leaves, from whatever plant, should be burned and not composted.
The fungal treat ment is a preventative against new or fresh infections.
