If there was a phrase to describe my approach to gardening it would be "hopelessly enthusiastic"! I see something, want it, find it (or seeds), get it and only then think about how I can care for yet another tender plant!

Pet hates - most bedding plants, roses, packets of seed with the word mixed, frilly Fuchsias and lawns!

Loves - too many to list, but a few are; Fuchsia perscandens, my Bat flower, perennial Lobelia, climbers and any orchid that is pleasing on the eye.

If cash were no object I would grow Stronglodon macrobotrys.

My favourite way to kill an afternoon when I should be working (I'm self employed) is to visit the botanic gardens in Oxford.

Looking forward to "meeting" new friendly gardeners.

Welcome longk, we're a friendly but sometimes 'loopy' bunch here on GC. :) Look forward to seeing you around the site.

    thanks chaps!

I usually reside on Grows on you, as I like to show off my plants. I'm always looking for other outlets, and for more knowledge and help. But some of the other forums can be a little cliquey.

If someone shows interest in my offerings I try to share if I have seeds etc. I hope to extend that courtesy amongst others on here if all goes well.

The garden is a mess! All patio when I moved in, some raised beds added, but last winter lifted the paving badly! Spent most of my spare time this year doing a flat up to rent out so nothing got done I'm ashamed to say :o

What time I had to spare was spent keeping pots moist, potting on seedlings and so on.......

And now it's a bit of a panic, as I have been offered a house that I have first dabs on, so it needs to be done if I'm to sell!

      A taster of what floats my boat though;

      Clerodendrum ugandense.............

        Thank you Aesculus and Catztail!

The Clerodendrum was a cheapie from the bargain bin. They do that naff thing of bending them round a hoop - remove the hoop, pot on and you'll have a nice shrub in no time at all. In two summers mine has now hit two metres in height.
The downside is that they are tender.

A couple more of my favourites............

          Welcome

          I love the digitalis :)

I have lots of lawn as the garden is too big for me to be able to look after without it - but there are lots of plants as well.

          Hello Shiney and thank you!

If anyone is interested, I have spare seed for D.lanata.
I may have seed for D.parviflora too, but owing to a breakdown in communication between myself and my six year old niece some may be D.lanata!

I saw your crab apple question last night - did you try JBS at Bampton? They're tied in with Rupert Gooddy Ltd.
