This is my first entry on a forum. I have a 1/4 plot allotment, started April 2008. I have a resident robin and squirrel as there is a hazel hedge. Watching my pumpkins grow, also butternut squash, PSB, cabbage, rocket, rhubarb, raspberries planted this year, cranberry bush. No french beans - I put them in and next visit I found empty holes where a mouse had fun digging them out.:lollol: (Any advice on that?)

Hi, poppy, welcome. Try sprouting your seeds in something (toilet roll cardboard centres?) before you put them out.:) Mice like the seeds, not the growing shoots:wink:
Then all you've got to worry about is slugs, snails etc.:D Enjoy the site:)

Hello Poppy and welcome to gc!

Good advice from caj, I always start my beans off inside and plant them out when they can fend for themselves - watch out for pigeons though - cover them with nets, or hang old CDs on string to scare them off.
