    Hello from cumbriaI've recently moved to this beautiful part of the country, so have a brand new blank canvas garden! And I really mean that! There's no lawn it's been rotavated!

                      My only piece of advice, Alanna, would be to collect (with appropriate thanks) the advice of others, but don't be told what to do. Most 'musts' that you'll be given will have disciples of exactly the opposite. In the same way that any budding cyclist will feel obliged to invest in a full set of Lycra, most newbie gardeners have similar leanings towards raised beds and a tunnel, neither of which are really necessary and have disadvantages too. Be your own person.

                        It's quite a big garden (well it is to me) so will be looking at saving money where I can just going to take my time, like the old saying goes..Rome wasn't built in a day

                          What part of Cumbria? The location can make a difference to how you garden. :)

                          Later in the year the Lakeland Horticultural Gardens would be worth a visit. They even run gardening courses. :blue thumb:
