Hey there, totally new to this forum so please be gentle!

I've hired a gardener to (amongst other things) lay a new lawn in our garden following a house renovation.

Timeline for this is new turn delivered Tuesday first thing. A section laid that day with the remaining being laid today (Thursday)

I've challenged him on multiple occasions regarding this delay but have been met with assurance that this is fine. The weather has been pretty hot the past few days also. The turf has remained rolled in the garden. Mainly in the sun.

The attached picture shows the difference between the turn laid on Tuesday (day of delivery) and today.

    All comments/help/suggestions welcome!

    TIA

It will come through. Just remember to water it in the evening or morning (or both), but never when the sun is shining bright. Water droplets amplify the sun's radiation and burn the leaves.

After a few weeks and two trimmings it will look really nice.

Thanks Black Dog for your response. I was concerned about the delay with laying. I have been watering well for the past 2 days on the area that was laid.

The gardeners are just walking all over it at the moment though.

Hoping very much that you are correct and it will all come good in the end.

    Thanks again,

    James

Some turf companies will say it’s fine to water turf that’s just been laid in direct sunshine as it’s been rolled and needs the water badly.
I’ve never yet seen any damage from water droplets in direct sun on turf and it’s not uncommon to see turf watered midday in the sports industry.
The reason to water either early or late is evaporation. It’s more eco friendly not to waste water through evaporation.
Turf can be funny, a lot depends on the quality but if it dries out to much you end up with areas that are dead as the plant is not strong enough to combat the stress.
With turf only time will tell how it turns out.
Just don’t go crazy watering the turf, you don’t want to saturate it where it pools but rather keep it wet as the roots need to develop quickly. In really hot weather as it dries very quickly you may have no choice but to water the lawn in the day and the golden rule is the thinner the turf the quicker it dries out.
looking at the turf another day left rolled up in the sun might have been enough for it to not bounce back.
I can see what looks like foot prints in the soil, hopefully it’s been levelled and compacted enough so you don’t have any sinkage when you first walk on it.
