    Hi everyone

I'm happy to be joining all of you here!

I have recently moved into a new house and this plant which is in my back garden is very dried out / brown looking (see photo). There are a few green leaves only on the very tips of some of the branches so it has some life in it somewhere, but I have no idea what I should do - would it be a good idea to cut it back somehow or wait as it is?
Your help would be much appreciated - thanks

    Thanks! thumbnail_IMG_0741.jpg

A close up picture of the few green leaves, it has, might help ID it, which would be a good starting point to working out what would be best to do with it.

I don't know what this plant/ bush is either but it has some new shoots on it
If it was mine I. would personally thin it out get rid of some of the brown dried leaves and give the green shoots a chance to breath but asDMM mentioned a pic of the leaves would help

Not something I recognise from the pictures.
I'd do a bit of a scratch test of the bark on the "dead" areas before doing anything too drastic.
If it is dead then cut back to good green wood.
Unless of course you want to cut it back anyway because it's too big.

Reminds me of a winter jasmine I used to have.

Ha! I was going to suggest a jasmine, probably officianale, but those leaves don't tally. It's some sort of semi-hardy climber..Solanum or Passiflora?
When the frosts are finished, that would be a good time to cut out all the still-dead, straggly stuff, because the new growth won't get knocked back by more frost.
