help with lilac

    hi folks
    i need some advice for my lilac i am a dabbler really and can manage to raise roses and lillies but thought i might try a nice lilac tree this year it is quite a young one which has flowered nicely but has gone crispy and brown on the edges i have it in full sun as per the instructions but wonder why it is doing this any help would be so useful if you need more info let me know and i will include it

    Could be frost scorching from the late frosts we had, but also have you been keeping it watered since its been planted. A new tree planted in spring will need to kept watered for the first year.

    hi fran
    i have been very good with the watering i soak it every other day and when we had the sun i watered it each evening ( is that enough ?)i am going to give it some miracle grow tonight .

    Im with Fran, it sounds like frost damage. Sometimes plants are grown undercover which makes them earlier flowering but not as tough. It will most likely sort itself out over time.

    Yes that is quite enough - with lilac I would be inclined to water once a week, and feeding should not be needed. Lilac is very tough and survives in the most impoverished areas. Sounds like your problem could be late frost. Your gonna have to wait til next year to see how it does. One of the of the nice things about gardening is that it breeds patience <gg>

    thank you both for your help i will cut down thw watering a bit incase i am drowing it as i have a lot of touble bring up things that like naglect as i am to nosey and interfeareing lol spider plants hate me
