Help with sprouts

    i READ ON ANOTHER FORUM re sprout plants the person was talking about cutting the leaves off and leaving a small bit of stem where sprout are starting to grow:scratch:is this of any benefit?

    I never did that when I used to grow them.
    The lower leaves tend to drop off naturally anyway.

    Could be a modern idea:)

    I grow sprouts Poohpouri, but I've never heard that.
    I just clear away the lower leaves as they yellow and fall off.
    Just in case you don't know the little cabbage like tops which form at the top of the sprouts are perfectly edible. Cut them off and use as cabbage.

    Seems a bit daft to me. The leaves are the part of the plant that take energy from the sun and use it to generate growth. If you look at a sprout plant you'll see that the leaves get smaller from base to top this is so that upper leaves cast minimum shade on the ones below.
    So long as they are green and working I leave them on.
