Heron in north east

    i went to the royal quays marina today only 15 mins drive from me, there is a lovely lake and waterfalls and i saw a heron sitting on the bank i was just astonished first one i have ever seen here on the north coast, talked to some local guys and they said it lives here and also apparently there is two kingfishers didnt see them, anyway i got pics of the heron going to put them up soon

    nice one pal, im just taken back seeing one here in the north east, ive said for a long time in gc i never get any herons etc here and here we are got one, must go down again i might get the kingfishers

    hi peri thanks, they are lovely birds a delight to watch, he was a bit away from me and i had zoom out to get these pics they could of been better, anyway im just so pleased ive seen one here in the north east, would of loved to have got him in flight but he just sat there unaware of what was going on around him

    Hard to believe we get Heron's in the Northeast Rosa but where you spotted him is not far from the fish Quays come to think of it.. He looks quite Big and mean tho :)

    hi dee, yes its unbelivable seeing this heron here on the north east coast, he is sitting in the park area near the marina at the royal quays, he kept putting his head down and i shouted at him get your head up and he did so i could get the pic

    Great Pics Rosa ! I especially love the second one you posted :)

    They are such beautiful, photogenic fellas.

    Did you take any pics of the lake and waterfalls?

    thanks cookie, yes the second one is the best it was the zoom on my camera its 12 mega pixels and when i zoom in too much my pics can get a bit hazy.
    i put a section in members gallery of the royal quays marina so got pics of the area were the heron was. i say waterfall its not like what we expect it was man made by the local council and the waterfall runs down to the bottom of the marina lakes
