OH called me to look out of the bedroom window this morning-there was a heron standing on the edge of our pond! Most of the pond was iced over so it couldn't have got the fish but it was a magnificent sight as it flew away.

It'll come back armed with an ice pick, Jazmine ...

For a very large bird they make no noise when they take off - watch out though they will clear out a pond in no time.

Yep one cleared our pond a couple of years ago :(

Well it has appeared back 4 times that we have seen - we have put more pots around the pond now. I feel sorry for it, it must be so hungry.

Bad news, only one fish left when OH checked today. We now have a net over the pond which incidentally is only a small pond. We will have to restock yet again. :(

Sorry to hear that, Jazmine. We have had to net our little pond too. Every time I went in the garden there was another cat having a go at fishing!
