Hello everyone. I'm 61 years old, recently retired and live in a flat with a tiny balcony so I do indoor gardening although I'm on the waiting list for an alotment. I have for many years specialised in Bonsai and African Violets. This year I'm diversifying and have Pygmy Date Palm -Phoenix Roebelenii - seeds in the propagator for Bonsai and Drosera Spatulata Sundew seeds on order. I have a light garden which I made myself from a small wooden trolley which is essential for propagating and growing tropical plants. And that's me.

    Welcome Anthorn,

I tried for two years before giving up trying to germinate the Canary Island Date Palm. They were very fresh seed straight off the tree in Tenerife, I watched the wind drop the seed...:D:D

    Good luck!

Most palms are easier to propagate from suckers coming up from the roots if you can get them but propagating from seed is more challenging. Canary Palms are my next project lol
