    Hi,
    just joined.
I'm not a gardner and never really had any interest, other than cutting the grass, hedges etc etc and pretty much doing what ever i'm asked by my other half.
    HOWEVER,
I have just purchased 2 climbing roses to cover a back fence for a bit of fun.
purchased from my local rose specialist.
    "Amnesty International" and "Summer Wine"
mainly for my young grand children to help keep.

I did not realise there was going to quite so much involved.....
Anyway, most things i'm interest in , i join a forum, and have contributed and provide moderation to a few technical / Excel forums.

I live a short distance from the sea on the coast of UK , East Wittering, West Sussex - opposite the Isle of White.

looking forward to a good read here , and maybe posting the odd question here and there

        Summer Wine

        Deep pink Large-Flowered Climber.
        Registration name: KORizont
Bred by Reimer Kordes (1922-1997) (Germany, before 1980).
        Climber, Large-Flowered Climber.
Coral-pink. Strong fragrance. 8 to 10 petals. Average diameter 3.25". Medium to large, single to semi-double bloom form. Occasional repeat later in the season.
        Climbing.
        Height of 8' 2" to 14¾' (250 to 450 cm).
Coral Dawn (Large Flowered Climber, Boerner,1952) × Unnamed Seedling
"If I have to choose a favourite that would come with me to a desert Island, it would be 'Summer Wine'. This is a wonderful climbing rose with semi-double peach flowers and an exquisite fragrance. It simply out performs other climbers time and time again, and easily matured the quickest when planted in our new rose garden. Semi-double flowers are not everyone's cup of tea, however this one has something about it."

            Thanks for all the information
I was originally after some red roses , as i say a 12ft castle wall while on holiday in Sidmouth earlier this year and they looked fantastic, so i got the idea to try then on my fence.
however , i purchased from a local rose specialist "Apudram Roses" for a number of reason, 1) i used to go to a specilatst rose place with my Dad many years ago and 2) as we are near to the sea and get a lot of sea wind, i wanted to be sure of the variety.
However, having walked around with a member of staff and talked about a lot of the variety they had, I was also after the classic rose fragrance (again as a tenager , i started making wine, and nicked all my Dad rose petals, and remember the fragrance. But none of the Red Roses had any fragrance.

At the moment we are getting a lot of roses from "Summer Wine", the yellow rose however, was blooming a few weeks ago but has stopped.
The rose garden said the AI rose, is just having a bit of a resting period at the moment and will start again soon, i noticed a few buds coming

            Thanks Again
