I've read that hoeing wet soil can damage it, but I've got a lot to clear and everytime I have chance to do it it's either raining our the ground is soggy!

    Is it really that bad?

Not much point in hoeing when its wet, the object is to cut thru the roots, you'd just be transplanting the weeds in the wet.

And you're right, standing on wet soil destroys the structure :hate-shocked:

Just be a teeny bit more patient :)
If it is really getting you down, could you cover the worst of them with some sheets of newspaper/cardboard/black bin bags to block out the light from reaching them? :noidea:
