Where and when are you going on holiday this year?
Menorca first week of June and 10 days at Malcesine on Lake Garda in August, we haven't been to either before.

Staying at home for the time being as I am hoping to have a Bunionectomy(not too sure of the correct name) in the near future and as it can take up to twelve months to heal properly we are playing it by ear at the moment, although I wouldn't mind going down to Somerset in September if possible for a chance to see a very fast steam train that is going to be visiting.:snorky:

Enjoy your holidays Strongy and Linz and hope the weather is good for you both:smile:

Bon Voyage and wishing you lots of memory making smiles @strongylodon and @Linz

Good luck with your Bunionectomy (love it!) and I hope you make it to Somerset for the steam train.

I'm planning a "Holiday At Home" this year and that means being a tourist in my birth town. Despite growing up there, it's surprising just how much you take a place for granted. There is a particular hotel I used to pass every day which I'd always dreamed of staying in "one day". Well, it is about time that "one day" happened! Plus there are sites and thing-to-do which I've also never got around to so that will all form part of my "Tourist in my Home Town" long weekend  Just to round it off ... I'm going on my own too :roflol: No one else to worry about; no one else to have to compromise with; no one else to pander to: now *that* will be a holiday!! :dbgrtmb: Who needs "abroad" :heehee:

No @shiney I said "abroad" not "a broad"! :nonofinger: ;)

Thank you @Kandy hope your bunionitis get's sorted and you heal up quickly!
And @"M" that sounds wicked! Enjoy :)

Do hope for good weather too! One time we (15 of us!) tried going to Florida 2005, a hurricane put a stop to us from leaving Heathrow as we'd be in the middle of it landing, so we ended up going to Koh Samui, Thailand instead.

                      :hapydancsmil: :dbgrtmb:

Everyone's welcome to our annual Open Day - end of May Bank Holiday and shall put details on once we have the entertainment finalised.

As some of you know, we now do a lot of travelling since retiring (always promised ourselves that we would do that :blue thumb:). We've cut back on long haul because we're finding it harder to do it :old:. Although last year we managed to trek through northern India and across Bhutan (just to sort out things for Kate and William :snork:)

A few weeks back (end of last year :noidea:) we toured through Croatia, Montenegro, Italy Sicily, France and ended up in Barcelona. Needed a holiday when we got back!

Next month we going to Madeira for a week (got a very good deal ). We also have our two annual trips to the Lake District booked (been doing it for 45 years) and, in the summer, a week travelling through France (going to see Monet's garden in Giverny). I'll also be looking for bargain for a break at the end of the year.

We rarely go on holiday to sit around and don't do beach holidays. We like to see historical places, countryside, the way people live, their culture and customs. Unfortunately we don't get any freebies any more but we used to (used to do travel writing as one of my hobbies and got freebie accommodation for the duration :dbgrtmb:).

Still in the deciding stage here, but its beginning to look like: The Mosel Valley in May, Normandy early July, Telemark (Norway) late July, and Argentina over Christmas and New Year. Plus of course the usual trips to Denmark and Northern Germany in between.

We won't go abroad either :rolleyespink: ... possibly do a few day trips or maybe weekends up in the Alentejo and Estramadura provinces above us. We particularly like to spend time in the Nature Park of ArrĂ¡bida ...

Forgot to mention the fact that in 2016 after Mr Kandy retired we had one week in late April/May in South Yorkshire (getting warmish)Two weeks in August on the Isle of Wight,(Hot but it rained on the day we headed home:snorky:) Two weeks in September down in Somerset (Hot again) One week up in Buxton Derbyshire October 30th and start of November.(Warm weather with a couple of night frosts and it started snowing the day we packed up) Should have gone to Sandringham for Christmas/New Year but had to cancel due to my knee problems:sad:

I expect now that we might not be going far we shall probably have a wet year weather wise :mute:
