    Wow, what a beautiful place to go & walk Woo, the bird life is obviously fantastic there, so a sunny walk must gorgeous..!! :scratch: Tell us though, why is it called Horrid Hill..? I assume it dates back to medieval times or something..?? :scratch: Thanks for sharing though.. :thumb:

    Hi Marley Its called that because when you eventually get to the top of it and you have collapsed out of breath:hehe: Sorry Marley I,m having one of my juvenile spells to day:)

    This is the real reason:)
    There,s a causeway which runs to a low mound called Horrid Hill. Convicts housed on the hulks in the Medway anchored close to Chatham attempted to escape to the hump of land that looked like an island. Those that were recaptured were hanged as a warning to others, hence the name "Horrid Hill". Horrid Hill marks the end of Sharps Green, which proved an ideal place for smugglers:thmb::)
