I'm sure a hot tub would benefit my arthritis but Carol says NO....

If I do go ahead and get one, I'm positive I'll be last in the queue behind Carol and Rebekka to use it..........

    Too late, just ordered one!

Amazing how a humble gardening discussion forum brings people from various walks of life together. I hope you didn't charge too much, Victoria, or Carol will have some words with you :heehee:

Soft tub for 375 Euros, sold immediately upon advertising and taken away next day! Have lovely new shaded seating 'room' now. Original cost around £4,000.

Drat, now have to buy an enclosed gazebo to prevent the voyeuristic neighbour next door spying on us!

We are lucky, we don't have neighbours as such. :heehee:

I used to have a hot tub. Also had a neighbour that I nicknamed Mr. peepers!

Be very, very careful. Had a dear friend who got one but sadly got a serious infection from a slight cut and was ill for a long time. Me I'd much prefer to swim in the sea.

I had my hot tub for 15 years and never encountered any bacterial issues. Whoever owned that hot tub @Jiffy , was perhaps a pig!

The other thing that they do is in the winter, if you feel a cold coming on, you get in and stay long enough for your core temperature to rise and , in my opinion, it seemed to reduce the symptons dramatically. Not so much snot and cement nead :)

You need to build a stand next to it with a towel rack. A place for your towel and liquid libations.

You will find that you sleep the "sleep of dee dead" after a good tubbing. :)

Other than the arthritis you mention, not sure about your other health issues, but you need to be aware that regular and over long stays in hot tubs or baths can cause problems if you are medically weakened in any way.

From Heath sites, re:- hot tubs - Get out right away if you feel dizzy, faint, have rapid pulse, irregular heartbeat, stomach pain, or tingling in feet and hands.

I'd be in no rush to get in the tub next week. We tend to use ours more in the winter.

Ours has a bubbler ring that sits under the slatted seat running around the tub. After 15 mins with the bubbles battering you it feels like you've had an upper body massage.

A tip on sterilising. We've moved from chlorine to active oxygen and find that the water feels nicer (I know - it sounds mad !). Worth looking at this as an alternative
