How do i stop snails/slugs getting my runner beans?

    hello everyone

    i keep planting runner beans, yet when the leaves start to come out they keep getting attacked by them wretched pests. and consequently they are not given a chance to grow.

    any advice please

    Willsgarden much depends on the veg patch you have,but if you can get a bowl or very small pond, or shallow container,find a frog put it in the corner with water and they will come out at night and get to the slugs,that is, if you can't put down pellets, as an alternative. I went out once in almost dark to gather some vegs and saw 3 frogs guarding, came from my nearby pond. Untill then I had always wondered, why I was not bothered by slugs.

    I have found the only reliable method is to go out late at night with a torch (car inspection lamp) and pick them up and kill them. I can get 60 a night, but the numbers do drop off if you persevere. And I have seen the benefits.
