Before using mix a bit with compost and plant a couple of runner bean seeds also do 2 pots with just compost and plant 2x seeds and check progress over 6 week after germination just to check their is no weed killer residue in the muck.

I think you said it was well rotted Nick, therefore it wont be smelly or anything, it will just look like good, very dark, rich compost. Also most weed killers will be long gone. There was some outrage a couple of years or so again when it came to light that one chemical was surviving the trip through a cow's digestive tract and was going on to cause harm to young plants, but I'm almost certain that chemical got banned, and in any case even before the situation came to light, I don't think that many farmers started using it. In other words, I think the weed killer residue risk is very low.

I used two lots of our horses poo last year, both rotted about six months. The stuff I dug well underground before winter hasn't sprouted any weeds and has rotted "away". The stuff I used as a mulch has some amount of grass growing in it now. So in future I'll be digging in well (so it's not visible) and NOT using as a mulch.

I'll also be composting it for at least 12 months next time, but I was in a rush last year ;)

But the rhubarb has been AWESOME !

horse manure is different to cow manure .... a horse has a different digestive system, seeds pass intact through a horse's digestive system ... hence the occurance or lots more weeds

another prob I read about is that most horse manure comes with sawdust, which if not properly composted, leaches nitrogen from the soil

a few years back, horse manure was banned from allotments due to some or other spores found in it

but saying that, I have read more good reports than bad

There is only a very small chance that there is any weedkiller in it nick. I was affected by this problem 4 years ago, it killed my tomatoes and stunted my peas and beans, but most other plants were not affected. The weedkiller was banned after a year but has since been allowed again, but hopefully farmers are being much more careful with it. I've heard of one or two problems since, but it's very unlikely yours will be contaminated

Some plants are immune, as i said earlier tomatoes are the most susceptible. What are you growing in it ?

Many seeds can also pass through a cow intact. In fact it is a cheap way to establish a wild flower meadow. Instead of forking out for enough mixed seed to do 20 acres say, you buy enough to do one acre, establish that, then let cows in to graze it, but keep them moving through that patch, so they eat the seed heads with the grass, then poo them out in a different spot.

Next time you walk through a field grazed by cattle, take note of the cow pats. This time of year they are often loaded with seedlings, although unfortunately its usually creeping buttercup.
