    Ford Cortina MKII.

Back in the day (I was much younger) I owned a few, I got to know them really well, swapping engines/gearboxes was a days work and I loved it, I actually once totally rewired one.

As I say, I was tempted but didn't really want to face Carol's wrath! She would have gone mad at me.

If I can get hold of an original Vauxhall Firenza 2279 DN coupe (Droopsnoot) at a reasonable price, I'd love to work my magic on it like I did my first one but they are as rare as hens teeth.

I can only half remember the Firenza, must be quite a rare find. Now if you could find a Cortina MkII 1600E that was a car. Even a Cortina MkI GT:wub2:
I watch Bangers and Cash, the classic car auction site in Yorkshire. Some absolute gems go through the auctions, but for a good price.

The prices that some of these cars are going for nowadays is absolutely remarkable. Even 'meat and potatoes' type cars such as the old Volvos (boxy but good!) are running into the many thousands. I saw one the other day - a V70 (so not wildly old) with 340,000 miles on the clock and still for sale for a few grand. Just nuts.

Cortina GT, I came over all funny then, I like the MK1 but prefered the MK3 only seen them in proper 70's colours though, like Brown or Orange, 2 door GT was all the rage when I was a nipper, as for facing Carol, you could try my ploy, tell her its an investment that will get better returns than the bank, just don't let it slip, that you have no intentions of selling it.

A very rare car, so rare, the only problem is its basically a modded Chevette IMO (not a Vauxhall fan), although I nearly bought an 1982 Astra GTE once, but bought an Alfa sud instead.

Who would of thought, you could buy certain Ferrari models, cheaper than an Escort Mexico, talking of Volvo, a really good P1800 £40,000+, but the most expensive P1800 (on youtube recently) I have seen is a resto mod, beautiful car, but would cost over £100k, it did have a Volvo touring car engine and gear box etc, and road legal, beautiful car, money no object, I would rather have this, than a modern mclaren, Lambo etc.

I bought mine as a non runner for £1,000, spent nearly double that getting it back on the road but I did make some insane mods to it that made it almost lethal! Yeah, I'd do it again, nice to pee off porche drivers!

I think you'll find that the HP Firenza pre-dates the HP Chevette?
