Looks very like a Viola, possibly odorata.

 

Do you think so.....I have loads of them!! This is quite a big plant and the leaves are fairly ' thick'. They are also a lot larger than any Viola that I have.

It will be a surprise plant I think!!

 

Yes, I got the impression from the scale of the pot holder that it was quite big. The only other plant that springs to mind is Eryngium but the petiole doesn't look right. Will dig some more

Thanks but I've already done that.. Came up with loads of options but the strongest likeness in their option was... Brassisca Oleracea ......I don't think so !!
