    Hello there
We have some pots we have earmarked for something. We are not much for too much maintenance and prefer something strikingly sculptural or with all year round colour.
The pots are currently in semi shade - near a beech hedge and beneath a well pruned prunus (see what I did there?) - and the pots are various sizes, none very huge.
Is that too specific or too broad?
Anyway, all ideas gratefully received and I will of course let you know how we get on.
    With thanks.

Hello, is watering classed as maintenance? The smaller the pots, the more often they'll need watering, but here goes :). Hostas (although not evergreen, they don't come much more architectural), Arum italicum pictum could take over their rĂ´le in winter. Ferns (Polystichums are good evergreens), Acer palmatum dissectum varieties, Nandina domestica 'Fireglow', Camellia if you can water with soft water, Mahonia (there are some newer varieties without prickles).
