It looks like two completely different critters, top to bottom. We've never seen one with this red on it before.

    Strongy ... anyone else ?????

Just seen this Vicky (been 'up north' for Easter).
As Glen has suggested it does look like a Psammodromus due to it's roughly keeled scales and males having an orangey red throat in the breeding season.:)
    Shame it's a dead'n:(

Apologies glenw, I missed your posting but you appear to be correct ... the second photo down on the forum on your first link looks exactly the same and it was spotted in Portugal ... what a beautiful tail! I couldn't get your other two links.

Hello, strongy, hope you had a nice break away 'up north'. Yes, a shame it was dead. Cal doesn't mean to kill critters ... he brings them in as pressies and once they don't move he gets dismayed and distracted (being a sandwich short of a picnic as he is) and leaves them lying around .... :( then goes to have some crunchies to eat for his efforts. Boo usually looks at them and goes s00k and quickly goes another direction .... :hehe:

:thku: both for the identification ... at least we know for future reference.
