Have this growing against one of my fence lines.

I did cut it down to soil about 12 months back but it has grown pretty quick and actually serves as nice screening.

anyone know what it is called?

It looks like ligustrum, but if you could get a close up of the leaves then we can give an exact i.d.

Yeah, I think we'll go with l. ovalifolium. I really can't stand the smell of the flowers, a bit pungent!

72427E31-BFD1-49BC-86CB-181229FAF450.jpeg Thanks both! A great help.

To be honest as it’s at the back of the garden I have never noticed any smell.

It has grown since the pictures above and has started to fill in. What is the best method to get it more dense?

My plan was to plant a few more on the left where the bare fence is exposed.

Apologies if this is a silly question, could I use stems from exciting plant to grow more?

Do these create deep roots? As there are other parts of the garden I would like to screen.

July August is the best time to take cuttings. Semi hard wood. Rather than me plonking on the keyboard, google is your friend:)

I quite like it, I drive through a village on my way home from work, well I did last year, and the scent was really nice, I think you both need your nostrils checking.

I don't know how deep they grow but a few members here have said in the past that they are very difficult to dig out.

Sorry Pete I think you're out voted here, I can't stand the smell of it either. Perhaps it's you that needs a nostril check.

I'm on the fence ,,,, I love the flowers , I think they're like miniature Lilac. The answer is to not stand too close to them :)
