Hi just wondering if any IE users have switched to version 8. I think I heard on hear about version 7 causing problems (in fact I think some thought it was the cause of my problems with logging on here) and wondered whether to wait a while before downloading it. Any thoughts anyone? cheers
Lots of problems have been reported with IE8. Personally I wouldn't touch it until all the bugs have been ironed out which will probably take a year. I'll stick with IE7 and Firefox.
Well I haven't used Internet explorer for about 3 years now and to be honest I never will again (avid Firefox fan...) but if I was I would stick with IE7 until at least a few months after the IE8 release as this will give website owners a chance to create workarounds for all it's new bugs and quirks and increase overall compatibility.... ***Edit*** Looks like Dave W beat me to it =]
I am currently using IE 7, but will be switching to firefox, you can get good IP masking with it for you tube.
I've been using firefox for about six months now after hearing how GOOD it is. Must say I've not noticed anything GOOD about it yet, in fact I still find the adding favourites and one or two other things more complicated than they need to be. I still prefer IE but I'm following advice from people that know more than me.:(
Well Pete, if you are mths ahead of me be prepared for PMs about how to do this and that. Doing the switch on the laptop first to have a play around-it's the youtube issue that has got me wanting the change. Viruses and what not don't put me off IE, having to become accustomed to another int.Browser does.
Installing FireFox won't (well, I should say "shouldn't" of course ...) prevent you using IE. One, or other, will be the default browser when you click on a link in an email, or somesuch, but once you've fired up one of them you can use it as normal. So if you strugle with FireFox, or you get to a site that won't work or somesuch, then just use the other. Whilst you are using both you will have an issue with Bookmarks / Favourites - if you save in one then the other won't know about it, of course. The answer to that may be to use an online bookmark tool - then you can have the benfits of having all your bookmarks in ALL the browsers you use on ALL the computers you use ... But having said that I have often thought about using an online bookmark site, but never done it ... and I use both IE and FireFox on three separate computers, so I would definitely beenfit. I need to get-off-bottom I think ...
I use mainly firefox occasionally IE no problem with bookmarks Kirsten Firefox lists IE bookmarks as well as its own just click on the IE bookmark link and it throws up the list.
