Right, I am going to have a right ranting rave!

I downloaded I.E. 7 last night thinking - "great, and not before time either".

However, first problem that the download has caused is that my 2Mb broadband connection is now acting like a very slow! dial-up.

Second problem is that the Mozilla Firefox option (I use this as an alternative to I.E.) is now not loading up at all!

Now, I could have a fine swearing session here but best not to upset anyone!

Further to the problem is that trying to contact MicroSoft (or, just at this moment in time, in my mind the name "MicroSAD" seems to fit pretty well) is not the easiest of tasks, if not within a limited time period through the day.

Okay, I am looking for a little sympathy i.e. similar "tragedies" etc., but also for some thoroughly computer/internet/Microsofty literate person to offer advice as to how to rectify my frustrating situation PLEASE AS ITS DOING MY HEAD IN

(For all those G.C. members not originally from western civilisation, do please forgive my rather petty and pathetic problem. I'm spoiled by my computer and the internet you see, and now depend upon it to contact my friends etc etc etc). [IMG]

Me, too, Roy, as I can't help! As Demdro said, surely someone useful (other than the two of us :D :D ) can give some advice.

And I want to know why you're not with that lovely Tanya? Has she secured a job here for her visit? She's such a gorgeous lady, Roy .. get away from us here on GC!

You have my absolute sympathy - I hate when a supposedly whizzy bit of software causes problems - however just one suggestion. Check out the security level as it may have automatically defaulted to high. If so changing it to moderate may resolve some of the problems.

Royster, I too have downloded the IE 7 RC1 after using the Beta 3 version for many weeks without problem ... I find that my system is whizzing along as normal ..... do you, delete your Temp. Internet files at regular intervals ? if not this could be the cause of slowing down of the sytem .....and may be of help to you.. M-L

Dendrobe, L of L and Fran,
thanks indeed for your condolencses! (Any thoughts on how to spell this word please - are most welcome?).
The whole situation is proving rather more tricky than I first thought it would.
Nevertheless, I am still internet capable so life is going on.

Mona Lisa, I would love to delete something from my computers hard drive but since downloading this I.E. 7 I am now no longer the owner of said computer. It belongs to MicroSoft and I have no access to the hard drive, pretty much whatsoever!
I'm having a nice calm moment right now, as you may be able to determine, but how long will it last????

    Kind regards!
    Roy

P.S. its good though that I.E.7 is working well for you and I shall persevere to try to attain the same!

If you've got windows XP - have your tried the restore function - back to a date prior to the upgrade. That can quite often sort gremlins.

Looks like Royster has a mega-problem - have just looked and he hasn't posted since about 3 in the morning on the 5th...... Oops!

Hope you get back sometime, Roy! Or maybe you're spending time, as advised by us, with family....

depends on who you are with elaignus 7 , i had been with tiscali for 6 months had nothing but problems went back to bt today feel much happier, maybe a few little niggles to sort out but nothing drastic, my computer technician told me this morning he had a call from a customer asking for help and they are with tiscali, he said they are nothing but problem with a big T and he is with orange and has no problems, he reckons all broadband servers have good points and bad but reckons iff you get a good package more expensive and with either orange, aol or bt you cant go far wrong and you pay for what you get.
