These are a few leaves near the top of a star jasmine/trachelospermum jasminoides plant. I don't much like the look of the yellow spotting. Is this chlorosis? The soil here is alkaline (very chalky), but the RHS web site says that this plant should be OK in that.

If it isn't chlorosis, what is it? Should I worry?

(Apologies for the picture quality: autofocus + telephoto lens + wind isn't a good combination.)

I'd say it is some kind of pest damage, probably done as the leaf was forming, so the pest is probably gone now.
Doesn't look like chlorosis to me.

Just wondering if you bought a variegated variety of the plant.

      Not knowingly!

Seriously, I don't think so. It's only a few leaves near the top that show this mottling.

        If it's only a few leaves, I wouldn't worry.

A virus can sometimes cause yellow spots. I don't know if there's a treatment for it. I suppose you could cut them off.
