I had only been back in from the back garden a matter of minutes when my neighbour came round to tell me bees were swarming in my crab apple tree. He said the first thing he'd noticed was the noise which he compared to an aircraft passing overhead. I waited for things to settle down then went out to check and, sure enough, there was a swarm settling on one of the branches. I looked up our local bee keepers association and contacted their 'swarm co-ordinator'. After sending a couple of photo's to confirm it was a swarm of honeybees, one of their members was at the house within less than an hour. He managed to transfer the majority into a portable hive and has left it on the ground for a few hours, hoping the rest of the swarm will find their way too it. Most seem to have, although there are still some where they originally swarmed. Fascinating to watch them, and the way the bee keeper moved them. He declined any form of payment saying they would pay their way. :-)

      Fantastic @KT53.
Imagine someone asking you what your job is, and answering - 'yeh, I'm a swarm co ordinator'...:heehee:
