Give the plants a little tap to help set the fruits :)

It pollinates the flowers - dispersing the pollen

I use an old electric toothbrush to give them some vibration you can see the pollen disbursing

I'm a very happy man this morning, I've just been out to check the greenhouse and my cucumber plants have a few very bright yellow flowers on them. There's nothing to this gardening/growing if I can do it anyone can.... I'm thinking of calling myself Percy Thrower now :snorky:
I've just googled Percy Thrower and he died in 1988... I'm showing my age now ( I'm 45 ) I must have had a totally misspent youth to even have known who Percy was lol

Good for you having success @Spacemunkey . Not so sure I would totally agree with this "nothing to this gardening/ growing" tho:snorky:. There is god knows how many things which can go wrong between getting seeds to germinate and actually eating what you have grown. If some pesky bug, slug, bacterial infection doesn't cause problems then you can add to the list getting the watering wrong (too much/not enough). greenhouse gets too hot/not hot enough, oh the list is endless......come to think of it why the hell do we try? Well it is a challenge to get things right and rewarding if you do, there is always Tescos should things not go quite to plan:rolleyespink:. I haven't even mentioned what can cause mayhem outside of greenhouses, hellish frosts, howling gales, too much /not enough rain, too sunny not sunny enough, birds, rabbits, deer (I have 2 residents who are motoring their way through my herbaceous borders atm:wallbanging:), dogs and cats spring to mind plus the bug/slug/bacterial problems already mentioned.
It's no wonder my husband chooses model railways as a hobby they are a cinch in comparison to trying to have a lovely garden!

I've had a thought? I was advised to tap my tomato flowers, do I do the same with the cucumber flowers??? My only worry is will I have long red cylindrical shaped tomato and round cucumbers if they cross pollinate :rasp:
