It's four weeks today that my darling Calvos 'disappeared'. He was sleeping on the back of the sofa behind me whilst I was crocheting a blanket for a Portuguese friend who is having a baby in three weeks. He suddenly got up, stretched, went into the kitchen and out the cat flap ... never to return ... in the middle of nowhere ...

To say I am distraught doesn't come into the equasion ... I found this little boy at birth on the morning of 13 July 2006 in 34c weather in a plastic carrier bag at a rubbish bin, wet and still with his umbilical chord, not breathing. I took him home and dabbled him in milk ... against all odds he lived, albeit a sandwich short of a picnic, but he was a Mummy's boy and slept with me n'er on every night on my pillow.

I fret and I cry and I despair but I still hold out hope that he may return ... Magic Sam (18 in a few weeks) and Chere Khan (now four) rarely leave the house now but always looking for him ... here is a site t'other half has put up here on the Portuguese forums ...

I can totally understand how distressing and worrying this must be for you. I'm hoping he'll come home soon and end your anxiety :grphg:

Oh dear Vicky how upsetting is that.. Our cat used to disappear in the summer, sometimes for weeks, but he always came home when there was a big storm... I hope he comes back soon as such a handsome boy.. Thinking of you..xxx

Thank you pamsdish, "M", Ellen, Marley and Shiney for your kind words and mental support. xx As we live "isolated" in the orchards, one doesn't know what to think or where to look as this has never happened with any of our cats previously. The few "neighbours" are all keeping their eyes open and we have posters on our gates and all over the two hamlets on either side of us.

I'm always looking and calling and thinking the worst but hoping for the best.

Oh thanks Ellen and Marley .. I live in hope ... but where will I find him here (and this is a close up of what is around us) ...

            BirdsEye.JPG

We were over to the caravan/cabin at the river today and our baby Beija was there ... she surprisingly to us had another litter last week (one that we saw) but have not seen anything since.

We just seem to have 'disappearing' cats this year everywhere ...

            It's all very depressing ...

That's sad Victoria, I think I remember you posting about him back then, when you found him.

                Hope you find him soon.
