First day in Marrakech and there was a gale blowing so the walled gardens seemed the best place to be.
Bought and first planted by a little known French artist, Jacques Majorelle the gardens were later bought by Yves St Laurent and replanted along with blue artwork everywhere. Specialising in Bamboo, Palms and succulents conducive with the climate.

Looking good. When I went the blue paint was a bit tatty and the plants not quite as lush as they could have been. I think they must have smartened it up. Incredibly atmospheric, though, and they thought of the blue paint long before B&Q.

        I haven't copyrighted them so I don't mind.

Zigs, we started at Marrakech, then on to Casablanca, Rabat, Meknes, Fes, Ifrane (alpine ski resort!!) Erfoud (Sahara), Ouzarzate and back to Marrakech.

What did you think of Ourzazate?

My main memory is of Morroccan blokes asking me "You like Ouarzazate?" in a suggestive husky drawl as though it was some obscene practice!

We liked the place and would have prefered to have had two nights there instead of Erfoud.

Another place I want to go.
But not a great place to take a 4 year old I'm told.
