Wanting to grow a few flowering tropical plants this winter that had some fragrance I purchased a few varieties of gardenia and jasmine to grow indoors in a grow tent. The first plant to flower is the Jasminum sambac, Maid of Orleans. Though the flowers are small, they are very fragrant, and there are lots of buds on the plants. When I open the grow tent in the morning there is a very pleasant fragrance to brighten my winter day.

Will it not outgrow the tent?

No, it will not outgrow the tent. I plan on it being pruned as a house plant with a maximum height of 18" or so. Presently it is about six inches high and is in a 5" pot. Also, they are easy to propagate from cuttings to maintain a constant supply of small plants.

It would be handy if I could apply that regime to a few of my tender plants!
