    Just thought I'd show off !!

    This is the yield from one Jerusalem Artichoke plant (admittedly the largest in the row) 3.1 kilos

      Boil em up, then the skins peel off, have them with a bit of salt & pepper & a Dogfish. Get loo roll ready & do NOT eat on the Isle of Man in stormy weather.

      Zig, you are a Philistine !

      Scrub the artichokes and slice into rounds. Put some oil into a pan, add a little garlic (if liked) put in the artichokes, with some chopped tomatoes and parsley and simmer for about 20-30 minutes. (add a little stock if they are drying out). They are indeed nice with dog fish also with chicken and game.

      I thought this subject was closed, well, until next winter anyway! :heehee:

      I've never eaten artichokes, perhaps that's not a bad thing. :D

        these are topinambur, which is quite a different thing from artichokes.

        I like globe artichokes but never tried the Jerusalem ones. What do they taste like?

        hi catztail they are a healthy alternative to potatoes very similar to sweet potatoes.
        once planted though they are the devil to get rid of :dbgrtmb:

        Nothing like them Batz, the Globe is a thistle & the Jerusalem is a Sunflower, from Girasol, follow the sun not Jerusalem.

        Bit like sweet potato.
