July seems to be a bit of a transitional month, but colour there is still a profusion.

Astilbe, a lover of moist soils and partial shade, but otherwise, a great plant to grow

One of the huge range of Salvias, Forsskaolii is hardy, and will self seed, likes full sun but will grown in partial shade.

Then there's echinacea - beloved again by bees and butterflys. Prefers full sun, but wil grow in dappled shade and tolerant of most soils. Leave the seedheads on and you will attract the gold finches.
