Then arrive in the UK, Where we give them a nice house, and £400 per week, never having put a penny in the pot, Whilst our grandparents, have had to sell up their home to pay for nursing care and rot in a home with nowt

(well not my/Oh parents, when all was to end, they came into our home , where they got back all the HARD work they had put in rearing us as children)

A LOT of them stay with us (in Italy)...:yess:

I don't know how the economic treatment is for immigrants in Italy, but if it is anything like the assistance to the unemployed for Italians, the fun doesn't last long.

To be honest, I didn't know any assistance existed at all until a few months ago!
And then let's not go into taxes...from recent data, we pay in taxes 46 euros each 100 that we earn , in spite of the average wages money which is low > 15,500 GBP (the average for the European Union is 18,600 GBP)

Confused ? do you mean stay with us UK or with us ITALY

If they stayed with us, worked and put money in the pot, that would be good as it would mean money in the future to support pensions and other things

Only they do not stay with us UK they bleed the money out
The majority of SOMALI'S Lybians, and A8/A2 Nationals do not work they just take the £400 per week benefits and never put back in the pot, at least they spend the benefits here so the money goes around

The A8/A2 immigrants are another story
They work and get benefits including child benefit for children still in their home country because I believe 25euro a week is more than other EU countries pay

Now the nasty bit, they send MOST of their earnings home, so UK sterling is lost
and even worse they now end their employment and return home after 10 months, thus any tax and vat paid whilst here is paid back to them
Then after an eight week holiday home they return and start the cycle again
Sterling is bleeding out of the UK

It is not the EU immigrants as such, but the A8 and A2 nationals

They do not even attempt to learn the language

Hey I would love to retire to ITALY, but even with my limited knowledge of Italian I would not have a clue how to DEMAND and interpretor to give me my rights or even who or where to approach
Just waiting now to win the Lottery and move to Emilia Romagna or if a big win Sorrento never been to Torrino :-(
Though I have seen more of Italy than I have of the UK I just love the place and people, I dream of becoming fluent in the language, and living there

Well, I am Italian born and raised and still I haven't got a clue who to ask for anything in public offices...:heehee: !!!

As fun, lovely and sentimental as they are, I am afraid when it comes to administration and burocracy they are absolutely hopeless (sorry guys).

The concept of "tick in the box" and transparency does not apply there...

The treatment varies according to: whom you find in the office ( supposing you find them in the office),
    what you are wearing,
whether he/she is a good mood,
whether you come from the village where he/she has got relatives or friends,
whether he/she missed her coffee (they don't have breaks, but create plenty of them),
    whether he/she is hungry

    whether
:stirpot:the football team has lost the day before.

This last one has to be the ultimate nightmare which will make your hour waiting in the queue an experience to remember...

but we have a BIG HEART :sunny:and make good PIZZAS...

PS about places where to move, quite safe bets far from volcanoes are the region of Liguria (in areas like Sanremo and Alassio)which is not too bad, Tuscany in general.
I couldn't comment on other places because I don't know.

You want an area where they don't mind foreigners meaning they see already a few.

I don't advise you Torino, because they are quite narrow minded there and the few foreigners that we have are students or French weekend tourists.
