    Good day all,

I applied lawn fertiliser ( Mo Bacter) nearly four weeks ago over my 900m² area of lawn but have lucked out on any rain to activate it. My lawn is now a bit of a mess with yellow rings and scorch marks.
I have had the sprinkler on for hours on the worst affected area's but with little apparent effect.
I need a plan to recover....Your advice please?

    Thank you

Having had the sprinkler on for hours should have, at least, dissolved the lawn fertiliser. Other than reseeding the areas and giving it a period of around 6 weeks for it to recover the only other way is to returf the affected areas.:dunno::doh::coffee:

This Spring has been incredibly dry in parts of the UK. Usual Spring fertilizers or feed & weed products may have inadvertently caused more harm than good in places as they haven't been washed from the grass into the soil, resulting in foliage burns. So much for the typical April showers lawns rely upon!!

With the lack of water, the problem is compounded by stunted grow in grass roots, trying to survive in concrete-like soil. All you can do is give the lawn regular watering and if the grass doesn't grow back soon, the damage may have already been done and re-seeding the affected areas as @ARMANDII suggested may be the only solution :dbgrtmb:

Tamtoot, we have all been there alas!
No amount of watering will now recover the damaged grass. I suggest you wait another week or so and see if any of the grass is actually dead.....too much fertiliser will kill grass. Then I would gently rake the damaged areas and reseed and use a liquid fertiliser. This, with the grass now growing more quickly, will help you reclaim a nice lawn from early summer :)

I`ve been looking after almost four acres of grass for about 30 years now on my camping site. It gets all sorts of wear and tear, and scorch marks - and bare patches where groundsheets have been. The punters call it ''lawn'' It has never had fertiliser on it, and the only weeding that happens on it is removing any thistles that appear from time to time (by hand) I am unable to water it at all.

If the weather is dry, I raise the blades on the mower, and the cutting deck mulches the clippings which go back to feed the grass. Dead and/or scorched patches just grow back and the site is always green. (I don`t bother with stripes though.... @Verdun ) :heehee:

Don`t you go wagging your finger at me young man - @Verdun . Virgo people, born in September may have to have stripes and lawns, but I like higgly piggly .:rasp:
Actually my b****y tractor is making mohican stripes at the moment, and funnily enough, the site has been done chevron pattern - much like the illustration in Armandii`s post :thud:

                    Ha ha Tetters :rasp:
Cut my grass twice a week with my cordless mower. Never closely scalped though. Prob one of the few to actually enjoy mowing. :)

The mower man came yesterday to investigate the ''Mohican effect'' :rain::poo:.
I think doing my acres with one of these "snow plough"might just finish me off! The back axle is iffy for one thing, and the deck has almost rotted through on the big Countax.
When I hear what the estimated cost of repair will be - hopefully later today, I shall have a decision to make. As long as a new deck is still available, it will hopefully be 'repair' rather than 'replace' Cannot afford to get a new tractor as good as the one I already have.
                      Mumble mumble mumble.....
Today needs to be a ''be kind to Tetters'' day. :sparrow:
