This gives new ideas and approaches to the traditional grass lawn.

I found it very interesting, and before coming across this research have already had some success by mowing no lower than 50mm and leaving a longer gap between cuts. My grass is now sprinkled with both colours of clover, daisies, speedwell, birds foot trefoil etc. it gives a very pleasing appearance if you have an open mind, is easier on the blade on my lumpy, bumpy clay and means less work. I shan't be going completely grass free, but am very happy with my half way house :)

Hi philomel, I spotted this idea a while back:

    http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/threads/lawn-grass-free-full-of-flowers.52346/

I am giving it a go myself, although mine is still a work in progress. I am growing it all from seed and a few plants bought from GCs. I am currently bulking up the plants before planting out otherwise it would be quite a costly exercise. I hope to get mine finished this spring.
