      Hi,

Been using one of these for most of the summer, with the self adhesive printed labels put onto standard plastic plant labels.
No signs of any fading or coming unstuck so far.
Believe other GC members use similar printers with equal success.

That particular label printer is designed for Electricians and can print special electrical symbols which is a bonus for us, (as well as the price! )but it still has a decent selection of text sizes eg s,m,l for standard printing.

There are other models with lots more fonts if you want to do fancy printing, there is also one specifically for gardeners.

We found a label printer was good but the blackbirds still pull them out and move them to other plants!

Yes @shiney I've had similar problems....I am trying to think of a way to fix a label ( of sorts) to the actual pots. I had written on pots before but you need light coloured pots and a pen/ pencil that comes off when cleaned, a china pencil has proved best so far.:blue thumb:

Along those lines....has anyone else noticed that if you hang a label on a stem of a plant/shrub/tree, it's always that stem that dies off and gets pruned out?:roflol:

It's the squirrels biting through the plastic labels or just stealing them from the pots for no good reason that causes me the greatest headache. One Buddleja seedling/cutting looks much like another until it flowers.

I aways try to use a different type of pot (round/square, deep/shallow, red/black/other colours, rigid/semi-rigid/flexible, various sizes, etc.) for every different variety of plant that would require identification, then I make notes and take a picture of them.

Larger pots can have a small hole drilled in the rim and the label fixed there with a twist of wire, with tree pots they're tied to handles, labels for rows get nailed to timber row pegs, anything with a stick gets it tied to that, and large open ground labels can a have a twist of wire through the hole to act as a barb in the ground.

And I still get some muddled up

I hope you are proud of me... I tried very hard. The first Dahlias are up. Sadly, they stopped flowering before I had a chance of labelling them so the top box is the fullest one.

Sadly my efforts aren't so good.... The pots in the 3rd pic in my earlier post haven't germinated yet but their wooden 'labels' have!!!.:yikes:...they have a furry coat of mould all over them!!
                            Can't say I didn't try I suppose. :heehee:
