    hey

I left my surfina's and million bells
hanging plants outside for 2 nights. It's been frosty in Leeds too! I;m worried they might have been affected. They seem okay though. What are the signs of frost damage?

Also, i don't have a green house sadly, so i have to keep them in my room! lol You think that will be okay?

    Cheers

    S

If the frost had got to them the stems & leaves would be blackened - if it was just a light frost and they look OK you might have got away with it.

Best part of a month before they can venture outside . Most of us are running out of warm room about now - there are only so many windowsills !

They seem okay. I've brought them all inside. Do you know if trailing Lobelia's are frost hardy?

That depends on night time temperatures and if they have come from warm GCs, they will probably be ok unless there is a frost threat in which case bring them inside.
I have trailing Lobelia grown from self sown seed found in the garden, (I planted them two seedlings to a cell in January) the seedlings have taken -5c outside and survived so they are quite tough, Germinating them in heat and putting them outside now is different.

Hey thanks. It's interesting. I left a purple surfina outside last week and brought the rest inside. It seems to be thriving. It gets pretty cold in north Yorkshire too!, it was grown inside a warm greenhouse at the garden centre. I think i might put the rest of my basket plants outside in another week. I'm sure they are looking leggy and a bit dull kept in my room and bathroom!
