We visited these gardens last week as it was our 30th wedding anniversary.:)
It is located in the Dordogne area of France, about 274km from where we live.

I can honestly say it's the most extraordinary garden I've ever visited.
The gardens occupy the whole of the top of a peninsular, 130mt above the Dordogne river, and has panoramic views all round.

It has no flowers to speak of, but a large proportion of the garden is covered with boxwood in undulating free-form shapes. All these are cut with hand shears twice a year.

The garden would make an ideal set for Alice in wonderland. It's so bizarre.
The rest of the garden is forested, with terraces and sinuous paths. The whole garden is dotted with art works, stone huts, water features, play / sitting areas and a chapel.

Some of the paths are a bit steep, you certainly get a good work out. If it's likely to be as hot as it was when we visited, then I recommend you take a bottle of water with you!
I took loads of photos. if you want to see the rest they are on my Flickr site here.

Amazing. Fields of giant green pebbles. Your flickr album is lovely is well.

I've always wanted to visit the Sarlat area to look at all the neolithic sites featured
in Clan of the Cave Bear, # 5 and 6.

Not quite, John, but all the "tourist" sites we've been to in France have never been what I'd call busy.

Congrats on your 30th anniversary :spinning:

I would really hate to be the one clipping that lot! :thud:

Love that 'tunnel' but it's screaming out for some climbers!

Know what you mean but it's wonderfully sculptural in its own right as well.
