Both are on my windowseill under the plastic lid. Lettuce leaves are in a shallow tray, gem lettuce and courgettes are in individual modules. Courgettes have done some serious growing in the last 36 hours are are between 6mm and 15mm high. The lettuce leaves are almost touching the top of the plastic lid. There are two kinds - both lanky looking and some keep falling over. I do not have a GH but I do have a plastic grow home.

What should I be doing now? Is it time to move on to slightly bigger diameter pots? The lettuce leaves I thought would stay in the seed tray and I would just cut and they grow again. But should they come out from under the plastic lid? I am guessing it is way to cold outside. I am up in the North East - frost here last night.

All advice, tips, help and words of wisdom very welcome.

    TIA

    Hi

You wont be able to put the courgettes out until all danger of frosts are over and that could be easily May.

yes I would remove the lid from the lettuce as you may cause it to rot

what does a plastic grow home look like.

Personally, I would ditch the Courgettes and sow again at the end of April. If you try to keep the ones you have going, you'll find it more and more difficult to keep them in full growth, bearing in mind that they won't appreciate being 'checked'.

Thanks. It looks like this. Would stuff be ok in here or will it still be too cold.

Would hate to throw out my corvettes but no point nurturing something that wont develop into tasty produce. What do you mean by 'hate being checked'.

Going to uncover my lettuce leaves. Can it stay in the seed tray? Does it eventually want replanting outside?

it means any attempt to change their natural rate of growth by - for example watering less, moving them away from the light they've grown used to, or putting them outside in the cold causing a vast temperature drop for them,

Re your Lettuce...I'd keep it indoors on a sunny window sill and keep cutting it for sandwiches ,that's what I do at this time of the year and sow at 2 week intervals.I don't sow for out door lettuce while mid April time as it's still too chilly for them:blue thumb:

Moved my lettuce out from under the plastic lid and placed on a stool in the patio doors (south facing). Do they look ok?

i would say so but you may want to buy a large pot and place them altogether in that and keep the pot indoors until the risk of frost has passed. That way they will bush. it is also highly unlikely that they will compete with each other if they have enough space.

I've down my courgettes too! They are only now peeping their heads through the soil, I normally pot them on into small flower pots then move them into the greenhouse but not until the end of April, then if there's a frost forcast I put fleece over them. I think I might do a second lot though.
