Had keys to the shed yesterday, brand new roll of netting, 9 tomato planters and a load of canes in there.

Dug up the rhubarb and split yesterday. Not much rot so got rid of what was cr@p and given this load to Wayne wonder (next plot over) 20170214_120518.jpg

Planted my rhubarb back in, pruned the bush and dug over the rest of that area, planted raspberries. 20170214_123248_001.jpg

Are you putting a polytunnel on it?

It'll extend your season, provide somewhere for bringing plants to on before planting out, give tomatoes some protection from blight, etc. And provide a useful shelter from the weather.

I'd really like to get one after reading yours and Steves threads but we got use of 6 polytunnels on the whole site, £5 a section!! Not sure if they're allowed on individual plots but I know we can have greenhouses. So going to trial it for this year and see how it goes. If all goes well I might get one for the garden but it's going take up a lot of playing space but also, a friend is checking to see if he has a greenhouse that he can give to me.. :fingers crossed:

Strawberry mounds.. maybe too close together but balls to it. 20170302_141931.jpg

Sorted out the raised box, shoved 3 garlic in at the bottom.

              20170302_142038.jpg

Started digging out rotten boards to put this plank in but time went to quick.. job to finish another day

Aldi usually sell packs of 6 strawberry plants for a few pounds anytime soon, proper plants in 6x cell packs, sometimes reducing the last one to half price, save the runners and in no time you'll have dozens, then hundreds of strawberry plants.

Yeah thanks lidls got them in today, £2 quid odd. The 2 green pots at the bottom of one bed are full of the ones I dug up and split ..I thought I'd try and save a few quid and replant the best out of them. There's another strawberry bed at the front which needs doing over too.. Probably better off with all new ones though

Thank you Jack, it doesn't seem like it to me though. Feels like I should have done a lot more by now. Rain is partly to blame and not organising my time efficiently when I'm there. Plus I get side tracked by other things like those metal bars that stick out and my plot neighbour loves to talk absolute dung!

But Linz, that is what it is all about, you sit in your shed with a nice pot of tea, chatting to the neighbour, Then return home with a nice bag of fresh Veg that you bought in ALDI :-)

Trip to lidls last night got the strawbs and replaced them, at least I know I'll have some decent strawbs.
                          20170304_135630.jpg

Old man came up with me, put the board in tidy and done a bit on the other side. He dug over half of one bed, said he was gutted he was off to makro so he's coming up to dig the rest tomorrow. Think he's enjoying it up there! I pulled the weeds and most of the roots up and forked it over..
Old man don't think the soil is that good, very stoney and clay-ey.. he's saying just chuck spuds in for this year to break it up, try and get off-cuts of artificial grass for paths even though I've been chucking all the stones on them and keep the metal things to hold the boards in place... I hate them!

The other strawbs bed.. do I replace all them too.. Probably.

Remove all those dead leaves and re-assess.

Done that with the other bed, ended up pulling them and digging it over. Prob do the same to this as there's a bit of couch grass and docks in there too. I do want a bed for asparagus and I found artichokes in another bit ..so might move them there?

Funny how you plan things out and you do something totally different..

Old man didn't dig rest over (he sorted out an extra fuse in the house instead) I can only nab him on weekends so praying it's dry!

Found a 4 pinter of wood preservative outside my shed, thank you Mr allotment man!

Took my wood up and then 9 bags to the tip and a frame.
