There are little black jumping beetles eating my cabbages. There are round holes in the leaves. Will washing up liquid work or do I need something more nuclear like provado?

    Probably flea beetles.
I'd give one spray of insecticide that states it controls them and ok for use on edibles.

Thanks for that Pete. I will see if the Provado I have will kill them. They are autumn/winter veg so should be enough time to get rid of any residue befor harvest.

I've looked up flea beetles. It says they are attracted by smell of what they eat. If I spray a solution of Jeyes fluid between the rows would that help to keep them away

Provado is systemic I believe, so should give protection for a couple of weeks, if not more. Not sure if flea beetles are a season-long pest, I doubt it though.

Thanks for that. I'm sure we can sort something out. My old boss is on his way over with something tells me is "Incesticide Soap"! Can't wait!
