No - life in a compost bin is a good sign. All flies start life as a maggot and "maggots make marvelous mulch"!!

I have a massive amount of white flies in my compost heap and have had all through the winter. I do find that they love the kitchen waste and don't like lawn cuttings and news paper/cardboard etc. So probabley covering the kitchen waste with some of the other might do it. But everyone tells me it sh [IMG] ouldn't effect the rest of the garden. I'm not so sure-but maybe they will stay contained where there is a good meal and when it's time to put the compost on the garden they will probabley have died off.
