A I the only one having difficulty logging in and posting on this forum ?

It has taken me several attempts over this last week to make this post ! The blue thing keeps turning round buffering and often just times out telling mr the page has become unresponsive. Try again or kill are the options. Trying again fails every time.

I am not having this problem on any other forum !

Not sure what's causing that Charlie

Take it you've cleared cookies and done a restart? That sometimes helps.

I'm sometimes finding GC unresponsive when submitting a post, waiting for ages for something to happen. Also problems uploading images, even got an error message that an image was too large when it was one I'd copied from an existing post! Took a few attempts to post it. Sometimes GC hangs when drafting posts, must remember to keep saving input to avoid losing it.

Saw a triple post yesterday which made me think somebody else was finding GC unresponsive and clicked the Post Reply button an extra 2 times.

Agree totally with the advice about CCleaner - it is a fantastic program, and will often encourage a petulant PC back to behaving.

Thanks for the advice.. But my PC is not acting in a petulant way. It is only on this forum that I seem to have problems. Every other forum my PC is working quite normally .

I've had the same experience, which is why I've joined other forums that use exactly the same Xenforo forum software as GC, and when accessing those I don't experience the same problems, and it's only when GC makes some major change (and never from clearing cookies, etc.) that everything gets sorted.

Might sort things for some, but never for me.

P.S. To really stress a point, some problems that manifest on GC just simply do not happen on Xenforo's own website (the forum software GC uses).

I am out and about just now (getting compost and vermiculite), so when I get home I will have a furkle under the bonnet and see if I can spot anything awry....

@Charlie996 - I have had a wee look about, but cannot see anything untoward. The only thing I have noticed is your IP addresses appear to be mobile broadband (or broadband provided by a mobile company); I am wondering if it might be a DNS issue where you are being redirected a few times before hitting GC. Bear with me, and I will have a further dig

OK - I have just ran a route trace, and I am getting timeouts, however I am also getting them with bbc.co.uk, so in my case it is most likely just firewalls stopping pings or responses, or heavy network loads causing ICMP to be disabled somewhere along the line.

The only thing I can think of is to try flushing your DNS cache. What version of Windows are you using?
