Hi Guys, I'm looking for a mains garden lighting set. the solar ones just don't cut the mustard. I would really like either some (3-4) spot lights or a combination of spotlights & lanterns.
Any info on suppliers online or b&q etc + your experiences & advice welcome....

this is a site that claims to be "affordable" Dunno about that - but it seems to have a useful range of info on the subject, so worth checing out. I googled for "garden lighting" and a lot came up - worth trying and following up yourself, I guess.

I have the Alan Titchmarsh lights - two spots and 4 lanterns off one 100 lead - with timer. They have worked well for me for the last 4 years - with just a couple of bulb replacements. As theyre 12v - you don't have to have special cables in ducts etc.

I use solar lighting in a couple of other areas, but unless its got a double LED, they are pretty useless for light.

Probably crocus, or gonegardening.com - they are associated to him, believe.

I got mine from my local garden centre Frosts - have you checked out your local garden centre, most do the same kind of thing, if not AT's range.

I would suggest you choose carefully, I have seen "complete sets" for £9.99 It is true you do get what you pay for. I would also suggest you do not buy any lights which have an aluminium ground stake as these tend to corrode and the light falls off (personal experience)

I also suggest that ââ?¬Å?complete kitsââ?¬Â are a good idea, but that means you have to make the lights fit your application, you should choose the lights for your application.

I.e. if you have some steps to light a softer ââ?¬Å?all roundââ?¬Â light should be chosen, or if you want to highlight a plant or tree you should use a ââ?¬Å?spotlightââ?¬Â

But also remember that most (not all) garden lights are 5-7 watts (so you may need more than one light for some big features)

Ideally you should make a sketch of your garden and decide what you want to light and what you do not want to light.
